This small pine needle tortilla basket is a fair trade product from the El Adelanto Cooperative, a Mayan weaving group in Guatemala. It is as fragrant as it is beautiful, and is sturdy enough for daily use. Handwoven from pine needles and pajon, a native highland grass, it is round with a tight-fitting lid, and features shades of brown, natural, and pale green. It is about 7.5" in diameter and 2.75" deep. It's perfect for holding small tortillas or rolls, and includes an information card with the name of the weaver on it. Because each basket is handmade, the one you receive may vary slightly from the one in the image, although it will be very similar.
