Our Bolga baskets are made in farming communities in the Bolgatanga region of Ghana in West Africa, and purchased using fair trade practices. They are an important source of revenue for the area. Bolga baskets are among the best-known African baskets because of their durability and bright, cheerful appearance. To clean or re-shape yours, simply wet it with cool water, gently shape or clean it as needed, and allow it to air dry. The colors won't bleed into each other and the weave will actually become tighter.

This basket is created from elephant grass and natural dyes. It contains no leather.

About the brand: African Market Baskets is a small business located in Boulder, Colorado that works closely with weavers to ensure fair conditions and wages, as well as high quality products. It is a member of the Fair Trade Federation and Green America, and donates 10% of its profits to Every Basket Helps, a non-profit working to alleviate poverty in northern Ghana.
