This medium sized rectangle Bolga basket is both beautiful and practical. It has two leather handles and makes a great tote or catch-all to keep in your car for mail, water bottles, and the like. This fair trade African basket is approximately 15" long, 8 1/2" wide, and 9 1/2" deep. If you order it, you will receive the exact one in the image. Only one is available.
To clean or re-shape a Bolga basket, soak it in water, clean and/or shape it as needed (use mild soap only and avoid wetting the leather), and allow it to air dry. You should wet the basket about once a year to hydrate the straw and keep it supple.
Bolga baskets hail from the area around the town of Bolgatanga in Ghana. They are woven from veta vera grass, also called elephant grass, which is plentiful in the area. Our Bolga baskets are all fair trade products.
