This oval Bolga bread basket with handles is one of our many quality fair trade African baskets. It is also useful for storing mail, sewing and craft supplies, or napkins and hand towels. It is about 16" long by about 10" wide by 5" deep with two leather handles.
The price shown is for a single basket. If you order this basket, you'll receive the exact one shown in the image. Because each one is unique, only one is available.
Like all our Bolga baskets, this product is handmade in the Bolgatanga region of Northern Ghana and purchased using fair trade practices. Bolga baskets are among the best known African baskets because of their versatility and durability. They are woven from local Kinkanhe grass, which is abundant in the area, and their production has a minimal impact on the environment.
If your Bolga basket ever needs cleaning or reshaping, just gently wet it down, let the water soak in for a few minutes, clean or reshape as needed, and allow to dry. The colors won't bleed into each other and the weave will actually get tighter and more durable.
About the brand: African Market Baskets is a small business located in Boulder, Colorado that works closely with weavers to ensure fair conditions and wages, as well as high quality products. It is a member of the Fair Trade Federation and Green America, and donates 10% of its profits to Every Basket Helps, a non-profit working to alleviate poverty in northern Ghana.
