Our round Manuela pine needle basket is a fair trade product from a Mayan weaving group in Guatemala. It is brown, natural, red and green and is sturdy enough for daily use. Hand woven from pine needles, wild grass, and raffia, it is about 11" in diameter and 3.5" deep. It's perfect for holding bread or fruit, although you may just want to admire it! Because each basket is handmade, the one you receive may vary slightly from the one in the image, although it will be very similar. It includes an information card with the name of the weaver on it.
About the brand: Since its founding in 1989, Mayan Hands has been guided by the principles of Fair Trade combined with high standards of product quality. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a long-time member of the Fair Trade Federation. It partners with approximately 200 cloth and basket weavers who live in rural communities around the western and northern highlands of Guatemala.
