This pine needle basket is a fair trade product from the Xeabaj Cooperative, a Mayan weaving group in Guatemala. It is as fragrant as it is beautiful, and is sturdy enough for daily use. Handwoven from pine needles and raffia, it is square with rounded corners. It is about 12" square and 2 3/4" deep, a nice size and shape for a serving tray. It's also perfect for holding bread or fruit, although you may just want to admire it! Because each basket is handmade, the one you receive may vary slightly from the one in the image, although it will be very similar. It includes an information card with the name of the weaver on it.
About the brand: Since its founding in 1989, Mayan Hands has been guided by the principles of Fair Trade combined with high standards of product quality.
