Tanzanian Baskets

Our beautiful Tanzanian baskets are handmade by the artisans of WomenCraft, a non-profit organization operating in Ngara, Tanzania. The women, many of whom are refugees from neighboring countries, produce baskets, trivets, and other décor items from natural fibers and traditional East African fabrics such as Kitenge and Kanga cloth. WomenCraft began as a small pilot project of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in 2004, and is now a thriving enterprise that employs over 300 women and exports products around the world. It is a member of the World Fair Trade Organization.
